Full Name: Nicolas Michaud
Born: Moncton, New Brunswick
From MP: "I first met Nick when a band I was in, called Sketch Cab, was in search of a drummer. The band featured founders Kevin Salter and Matt Wight, and me singing. Wighty called Nick, who was living in Moncton at the time, and tried to gauge his interest in coming to Halifax to join our band. We drove up from Halifax to Moncton for an informal 'jam and greet', and the chemistry was pretty instant - we all got along like close band members should, and his drum skills were more than impressive to us! It was then that Nick made the big leap and came to Halifax, and first began to showcase his extreme drumming skills around town, playing shows all over.
It's kinda impressive to think that he left town for Halifax on a whim, just to make a go with this band. That's the kind of drive he has to make it in music. That band later morphed into a 3-piece alt-metal trio Hurt the Lion, where Nick really got to show his progressive side - and also more of the hard-hitting beats that he killed so well. All 3 of us from Hurt the Lion (Pickup, Wight and Michaud) were a part of the MPATM line-up that recorded "Pursuit of Symmetry". Nick also burned some buildings down as drummer for Halifax's indie-metal hybrid machine the 'Broken Ohms', who are still very active on the Halifax scene today.
Michaud has since returned to his hometown of Moncton where he is pursuing several new musical ventures (including drumming for a Tool cover band!), and heading back to school. He continues to serve as the studio drummer and good friend for MPATM, as the chemistry found there is difficult to replicate.
Hopefully i'll get to tune down to dropped C, while playing along with one of his dirty half-time beats, when were both in our 70's".
